Hurricane Odile Update-Message from Jessica

Dear friends,

I am a local resident here in Los Cabos and this is what I am living (my appartment is 10 blocks from downtown and my parents have a house in Cabo… Bello, about 4 miles from downtown which I have been visiting every day). Windows are broken, material things are damaged, there is food and water, we just have to wait in lines, but there is enough for EVERYONE! Stores, such as Soriana, Chedraui, Wal mart, Mega, Costco, were all raided; our little town looks abandoned, but there is more togetherness and group gatherings then I have ever seen in my life. There is no bandalism or gangs of 20+ people; this was all a rumor. There are over 500 local cops, over 5,000 marines and soldiers with hundreds more coming down by the day doing rounds all over Cabo; anyone out on the street after 9:00pm is being questioned and asked to go home immediately. The only fires on the steets are the ones made by locals who just want light in their street. Of course there have been robberies here and there, but no deaths or anyone hurt; robberies happen everywhere. We are fine, and everyone here appreciates the support, prayers and good vibes everyone is sending over from all over the world. We cannot let this affect our turism, so please avoid any bad comments you hear, since most of them are not true; I am living here and we cannot let rumors get more Out of proportion. We are not in a war zone, and the photos you have seen are from the day after the hurricane; streets are getting cleaned up fast, and we should have electricity by Monday or Tuesday next week in certain areas. Please do not be scared to come down, since this is the best way people can help us is to keep the turism going.

Thanks again and God bless!
