Description

This striking, seaside villa sits in the very heart of Pedregal’s Valley of the Blue Moon, Cabo San Lucas’ premier residential community. This elite slice of Pedregal takes its name from the surreal, silver-blue reflection that illuminates the tiny valley when the moon is bright. Unlike the oldest section of Pedregal just above the marina, the Valley of the Blue Moon is sheltered from downtown’s late-night/early morning party racket by a stony mountain ridge.
You simply will not find a better location for a vacation rental anywhere in Los Cabos. Secluded above dramatic cliffs on the Pacific Side – just west of Land’s End – it’s as though you are in your own private paradise. In reality, though, downtown Cabo is literally moments away, less than a mile down the mountain, by taxi or car. Imagine: Great restaurants, amazing shopping, and legendary night life are all within easy reach (walking distance for the heartiest of souls), but you can slip off to luxurious peace and quiet anytime by just passing through the Pedregal gate (professionally guarded 24/7), coming up the mountain’s cobblestone road, and passing into Casa FuCasa Fuente, Cabo San Lucas, Pedregalente’s serene courtyard.
Casa Fuente is a spacious, custom-built, three-bedroom/four bath villa. Designed in 2001 by a prominent local architect, it is furnished in an attractive, authentic Baja style. It boasts a rare mix of Old-World Mexican charm with all the cutting-edge conveniences of contemporary living. The heated pool and stonemason’s barbecue island bookend a high-walled yard that is ideal for day-after-day private, outdoor relaxing. The entire villa is enclosed by a 12-foot perimeter wall, making perfect the sense of seclusion. Yet the pool deck and every room in the villa enjoys fiber optic-enabled, high-speed WiFi that is superior to what is found in most U.S. cities.
In Spanish, ‘fuente’ means fountain. Casa Fuente takes its name from the fountain built by Pedregal’s founders next to the villa’s south wall. Its soft gurgle greets your arrival, as you gaze out on the Pacific Ocean. Entering the villa for the first time, you pass with eagerness through a massive, wrought-iron gate. This brings you into a lovely tiled courtyard peppered with palms and made fragrant by a lime grove flourishing under the desert sun. Continuing through this courtyard takes you to its immense, wrought iron and glass front door.
Once inside, you behold a unique wall of Mexican onyx spanning from floor to ceiling on your right. Cut thin and backlit, it makes one of the most spectacular entry-way lights you’ll ever witness. Directly before you lies Casa Fuente’s living room. Its curved leather couch beckons to you. Its cutting-edge entertainment system features a 55-inch, curved Samsung high-definition television. Watch your favorite sporting events and shows. A Dish satellite receiver offers more than 250 channels, including a sports package. Even better, there is a Bose® sound system. Or perhaps you have a movie on your phone – or photos that you took of Cabo’s sensational sights earlier that day – you’d like to see on the big screen? You can do that effortlessly and wirelessly with the Apple TV device. Another option is the Blu-Ray player; watch one of the movies in the villa’s library or one that you brought with you. Looking for a more interactive experience or some friendly competition? Challenge one of your guests to an X-Box One competition on the villa’s state-of-the-art gaming console. A variety of games are provided for your enjoyment.
Let’s not forget, this is Cabo. Right off the living room is the walk-in wet bar and bar table. It comes completely stocked with glassware – whether your libation of choice is a margarita, wine, scotch, or something in between – you’ll find all the drinkware and accessories you need to make bartending a breeze. There is seating for three in the bar. There is also one bathroom on the villa’s ground level, located a dozen steps from the bar.
Passing through the bar, you find yourself in the kitchen. Updated in December 2014, the thoroughly modern, gourmet kitchen has all the conveniences: a convection oven, large refrigerator and freezer, microwave, both a standard and a Keurig coffee maker, toaster, blender, gas stove-top and dishwasher. The kitchen is spacious, so you and your guests will have plenty of room to cook and mingle. The villa’s open floor plan allows those in the kitchen to keep a close eye on whatever is playing on the big screen. Of course, the kitchen is fully stocked with an abundance of cookware, glasses, dishware, silverware, and knives. Even if you are serving Thanksgiving dinner for a large group, you will find everything you need close at hand.
Immediately off the kitchen is the dining room with an attractive table that spaciously seats six (or add a leaf to just as easily seat 8). Additional seating at the bar table ten feet away means that Casa Fuente comfortably accommodates 11 dinner guests inside. Of course, there is additional dinner seating outside on the pool deck.
One of the finest things about Cabo San Lucas is its weather, which is ideal for outdoor living most of the year. Casa Fuente’s architect, a local educated in Paris, understood first-hand how people like to live in Los Cabos. As a result, he artistically integrated outdoor living into Casa Fuente’s design. Two large sliding glass doors on Casa Fuente’s west wall offer you a seamless transition between inside and outside. And just off the living room, the layout affords a shaded, poolside dining table.
Casa Fuente, Cabo San Lucas, PedregalNo Cabo villa is complete without a heated pool and plenty of room to lounge on its edge. Casa Fuente does not disappoint. Four plush chaise lounges allow you to stretch out comfortably in the sun. There are two, large patio umbrellas to cast shade. There is also a Bluetooth speaker on the pool deck that plays whatever music you have on your phone, iPad or other Bluetooth-enabled device. Or, if you’d prefer to go old-school, there is a CD player for your use as well, so be sure to pack your favorites before leaving home.
Hopefully you are planning to barbecue while in Cabo, because Casa Fuente is the perfect place for it. Whether you’ll be grilling the fish you caught that morning, ribs from the neighborhood butcher or marinated steaks from Costco, you will not find a better barbecue anywhere in Cabo San Lucas. Period.
One of Casa Fuente’s recent upgrades is a Bull®-manufactured, Angus-model barbecue. Local stonemasons using exquisite Cantera-bricks imported from the Mexican mainland hand-built the barbecue island. With four-burners providing 75,000 BTUs (no, that’s not a typo), you will have all the power and control you need to make your meal a masterpiece of outdoor culinary perfection.
Casa Fuente’s barbecue level offers plush seating for four beneath a large umbrella and around a large coffee table with a built-in ice bucket. This same area also affords a wonderful place to sit with your guests on Cabo’s famed warm evenings — under the valley’s renowned blue moon — savoring a bottle of wine.
If you are sharing the villa with other couples, you will quickly come to appreciate that Casa Fuente’s architect created the ground level for living, while the upstairs is reserved for bedrooms and remaining bathrooms. Three of each to be exact. Go to bed early or sleep late, the fun continues downstairs without disturbing or inhibiting anyone.
Climbing the stairs to the second level you will discover that it was painted with painstaking artistry. At the top of the stairwell, you will surely pause to admire the wall murals. On your left is an intricate design of four flower pots. Grape vines are painted growing around the bedroom door on the opposite wall. Open the door to the room we have named De la Luna Azul (“of the Blue Moon”) and you find Roman–style columns on both sides of a window that looks out to the west and affords a stunning view of the uppermost stretch of the Valley of the Blue Moon. This room is furnished with two twin beds. Its bathroom, located a few steps away, has an immense Mexican-tile shower and dual vanity.
Next is the room that without question is the artistic highlight of the villa’s many charms. It is one of the villa’s two master bedrooms. We call this one the Del Fuente room because its south-facing balcony is right above the fountain (in Spanish, “fuente”) for which Casa Fuente is named. Above its queen bed is a large, original oil painting of four young Mexican girls in traditional dresses walking way carrying baskets on their heads. Please see the photos. What’s more, the ceiling of this room is an amazing brick dome, a specialty of the elite craftsmen who built the homes of Pedregal. The Del Fuente Room also boasts its own bathroom, complete with a dual vanity, a Jacuzzi tub, and a shower.
The villa’s other master bedroom we have named the Del Mar (“Of the Sea”) bedroom. It offers the villa’s best view of the Pacific Ocean. Facing the front of the house, its immense windows look east out through the lower stretch of Valley of the Blue Moon to the sea far below. Leave the curtains open if you’d like to watch from your king-size bed as the sun rises and the fishing boats head out in the morning. There is a large balcony off this room, furnished with two huge captains’ chairs with ottomans, making this the ideal place to slip away in the late-evening for some quiet time under the moon or to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee. The Del Mar bedroom has its own bathroom with a dual vanity, a shower and an immense bathtub.
There is a fitness center for your use, as well as tennis courts – both complimentary with your rental. If you have a car, you are welcome to park it out of the sun in Casa Fuente’s secure, attached garage. You will find this lovely villa is an excellent choice for a memorable vacation.
