BEST OF CABO SAN LUCAS AND LOS CABOS

BEST RESTAURANTS IN CABO SAN LUCAS AND LOS CABOS

There are many great restaurants in the Cabo area. This is not intended to suggest there are not many great alternatives. There are. My short list: Solomon's Landing Link

Solomon’s Landing Located on the Marina, with a pleasant setting under a thatched roof.  The restaurant is built around the Bar.  All of the seating offers a Marina view.  Service is excellent.  Food is excellent.  Ask about their visit by Diner , Drive-ins and Dives and they will be happy to tell you.  Tell them Baja Bob sent you!

      Nik San  Best sushi anywhere.

The Office  Located on the Medano Beach with a view of Land’s End.  Breakfast is must here while in Cabo.

For family style Pizza, try Romeo & Julieta on Camino al Pedregal. Turn left when you come out of the entrance of the Pedregal, and it is at the first corner just to the left.

For all the bells and whistles of a high end restaurant, try Edith’s. Not inexpensive, but always good. This is the #1 movie star hangout in Cabo. Reservations required (can be booked out well in advance). Valet parking.

For a setting not to be forgotten, there is Farallon located in the Resort at Pedregal (formerly Capella). Cut out of a Cliff over breaking waves, all of which is lit up at night. A setting that must be seen and cannot be explained. As good as life gets when the weather is nice. Not so much when the wind is up. The best fish in Cabo. No menu, you pick your fish from the ice. Not inexpensive. Through the large gates at the Pedregal entrance. Reservations required. Valet parking.

For traditional Mexican, local favorites include Mi Casa on Cabo San Lucas Ave, Los Deseos on the Marina, or Panchos on Hidalgo Street.

Breakfast at “the Office” is a must while in Cabo. “The Office” restaurant is located on Medano Beach and offers a great view of Land’s End, good food and good service. Valet parking. Tip: Wear your swim suit under your clothing in case you decide to do the beach stuff available there, like taking a wave runner or water taxi out to Land’s End.

Drinks and Dinner at the Marina

The Marina in Cabo San Lucas is one of the nicest to be found anywhere, clean, large, modern and surrounded with shops, bars, and restaurants. The many boats docked in the Cabo marina range in size from runabouts to the massive personal yachts of the rich and famous (the bigger boats are nearer the entrance to the Marina). Among my favorite restaurants on the Marina are Los Deseos, and Solomon’s Landing. Tip: When going to the main part of the Marina, I recommend you park in the mall parking lot to go to the Marina by walking through the mall. After parking in the mall parking lot, walk down to the first floor and follow the signs. There is a small charge for parking in the mall.

BEST SHOPPING IN CABO SAN LUCAS AND LOS CABOS

If you are looking for some Mexican stuff (“cositas”), head to Artesano’s. A huge selection with good prices. The goods are displayed warehouse style on multiple levels inside and out. Great selection of pottery, glass, art, pewter, copper, furniture, etc. They do not negotiate price here (a rarity, except at the Mall), because the prices are already as low as you can find anything in town. It is located on the right side of the corridor just out of town. Pull into the side parallel road as soon as you can after passing El Bordo/Hwy (the stoplight as you leave town before you get to Walmart) and pay attention because it comes up fast right after the overpass and does not have good signage. Look for an iron fence with fountains in the courtyard. Street parking only. Only open until 2:00pm, closed on Sundays. Cash only. For higher end Mexican art and pottery, try Casa Bonita on the Corridor.  For clothing, the mall off of the Marina is the best choice. For tequila shopping, the best selection and good prices are at the stores in the mall near the fountain. Tip: Mescal (the stuff with the worm)is not tequila. To be called tequila, it must come from the tequila region of Mexico and be made from the Agave plant. There are three kinds of tequila: Plata (silver), Reposado (rested) and Añejo (aged). You probably have never noticed before, but all of the tequila bottles say this somewhere on them. Reposado is usually used for margaritas. Añejo is sipping tequila or for even more tasty margaritas. Reposado is aged in Oak around 6 months, Anejo is aged in Oak from 1 to 5 years. A good starter Añejo is Maestro for about $45.00 per bottle. A good mixer for margaritas is 1800 Respoaado or Añejo. Both are actually owned by Cuervo, but you will not find that on the labels. Some of the tequila bottles are also art. For Cuban cigars, a good selection is to be found in the Plaza Mariachis, on Blvd Marina Cabo San Lucas, on the backside of Cabo Wabo.

BEST BARS IN CABO SAN LUCAS AND LOS CABOS

There are many great Bars in Cabo. My favorite bar is Rips on on the backside of Cabo Wabo. A fun place for a drink most always. The beer is always cold and there are specials. Also in Plaza Mariachis is Slim’s Elbow Room-Smallest Bar in the World. You do not have anything at home like this. They only sell beer or tequila in Slim’s, so if you are the kind that wants a shot, this is a good place to take one. Bring your camera. The Nowhere Bar on the Marina is a favorite hotspot. For a daytime beach bar, try Mango Deck or Billigan’s on Medano Beach, next to the Office. You can lounge at these two beach bars on their chaise lounges. Both can be loud at times.

REST OF THE BEST

Among the other best things to do in Cabo San Lucas and Los Cabos: A couple of Fish Tacos.  A shot at Slims. A night at Squid Roe.  A day at Medano Beach.
